Day 7: Rehearsal, Closing Concert, and Closing Party/Dance
A complete journal of the weekend, including the closing party/dance, will be posted after the choir returns, but since some of you were no doubt wondering about the competition results, I thought I'd share this update I received Sunday morning from LuAnn Holden:
"We did our competition concert on Tuesday night, but the competition concerts continued with other choirs through Friday night. The first-place winners were scheduled to sing on the Saturday night closing concert as well as any international choirs--Benin-Africa, Austria, China, so first-place winning choirs were informed of their ranking late Friday night. All other places were announced at the closing concert Saturday night.
We competed in historical and folk categories, but did not place in either event. (Our comment sheets will be mailed back to us in a couple of weeks.) It seems that the girls have had a great experience with the mass choir clinician and conductor, Elena Sharkova. It has been an 'eye-opener' for them to hear such phenomenal groups, both domestic and international!"
If you've read the journal entries written by the girls, you know what a wonderful tour this has been for everyone. The tour members who return in the fall will add energy and a fresh perspective which can help motivate the other singers to work even harder. Thanks so much to the families who sent your girls on this tour! The whole choir will benefit from their experiences.

Final choir rehearsal with mass choir conductor Elena Sharkova.
Time for a quick tailgate picnic after rehearsal.
All the choirs performed together in the Closing Concert.
(That's our smiling Megan in the middle!)
