2004 Summer Tour: Chicago and Milwaukee

Day 6
Saturday, June 26, 2004

[This report was e-mailed by Tarbell Patton from Chicago on Monday.]

The day began early, but the weather has been beautiful. We checked out for the hotel and headed downtown to the Milwaukee Public Museum. We started with a tour of the "Quest for Immortality" exhibit featuring many artifacts from ancient Egypt. The girls were then free to roam the museum to view the permanent exhibits.

After the museum, we traveled to the waterfront for the Edelweiss luncheon cruise. We were able to see a lot of Milwaukee's old waterfront before we headed out into Lake Michigan. During the cruise, we actually saw cars driving through the lake. They were amphibious cars out for a spin in the water. The cruise ended with the girls serenading the crew by singing...what else but Edelweiss.

We then proceeded to the Milwaukee Art Museum, where the girls sang a beautiful concert in the central hall of the museum. One of the members of the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus with whom we had visited on Friday night came to the Museum just to hear the girls sing. She was very complimentary of their performance. The girls then toured the museum with docents, and ended the tour by watching the "wings" on top of the museum fold down.

Our next stop was Safe House, a 007 spy theme restaurant. Each customer must enter through a door guarded by a man who asks for a secret password. Since we did not know the password, we had to perform silly tricks (like picking up a hula hoop without using your hands!) to get into the restaurant. Some of the girls enjoyed this so much that they intentionally went into a phone booth which forced them to take a "secret" door out of the restaurant, which caused them to have to re-enter the restaurant and perform more stunts. Those inside of the restaurant were able to watch the silly tricks on closed circuit television. The ladies also enjoyed the male centerfold in the ladies room. When you try to move some strategically placed paper, it sets off an alarm in the restaurant. It was a very enjoyable time.

After leaving, we dropped our guides, Jack and Audrey, at their car, and then hit the road for Rockford, Illinois, and the Travelodge Hotel.

QUOTES OF THE DAY:

Perrin G. - I really liked the Art Museum and the Spy Place. They were the bomb diggety.
Morgan H. - I liked the secret passage through the telephone booth.
Kasey T. - I liked the beasties and the modern art and Hanson. It was all fun.
Katie K. - I liked the museum and all of the different types of art.
Jessica T.- I liked the art museum just like everyone else. I also liked watching Shatura make funny faces at me through the secret mirror in the ladies room.
Penny Tullock - I really liked the Burt Reynolds centerfold in the ladies room. ;-)

Edelweiss lake cruise
These girls enjoyed the food and the view during the Edelweiss cruise.

Modern art?
After a day at the Art Museum, the girls decided to create
their own masterpiece on the ceiling of the bus!
