TOUR MEMBER SELECTION:
Girls in the Concert and Grace Moore Choirs are eligible to apply for a position in the Tour Choir. Decisions about the make-up of the Tour Choir will be made by the choir director.
Selection considerations, listed in priority order, are:
  * Limitations that tour accomodations may place on the size of the tour group
  * The vocal balance of the resulting choir; that is, balance among voice parts
  * The musical ability of the singer and the number of years in the choir
  * Previous tour experience
  * The demonstrated commitment to the choir of the singer, as noted by absences from rehearsals and performances, behavior, work for the choir, and so on.
TOUR CHAPERONE SELECTION:
Tour chaperones from the singers' families are crucial to the success of tour. In general, chaperones will be responsible for supervising a small group of singers (usually 6-10 girls) during the tour. This supervision includes aid in caring for uniforms, discipline, responsibility for the girls' tickets and spending money, checking of rooms, monitoring of girls' whereabouts at all times, enforcing bedtimes and wake-up calls, and other duties involved with the care of children. The chaperone should not consider this trip to be a vacation -- it is a job, but a rewarding one! Also please note that a chaperone's daughter will NOT be allowed to stay in a hotel room with her mother, and the daughter may or may not be included in the parent's tour group.
A separate application and deposit needs to be submitted for those who are interested in being a tour chaperone. The chaperones will be chosen by the executive committee upon the recommendation of the Artistic Director and the Tour Director.
Selection considerations, listed in priority order, are:
  * Consistent work on a continuing basis over a period of time for the choir
  * Previous touring with the choir
  * A background of working with groups of children in an educational or supervisory role
  * Possession of skills useful for the Tour Choir, such as experience with sound equipment, equipment maintenance, musicianship, finances, or foreign language.
ESTIMATED COST:
YOUR PORTION OF THE COST: about $975 per person
The cost includes round-the-clock ground transportation, quad-occupancy
hotel accommodations (except for perhaps one home-stay), two meals per day, all sightseeing activities, and certain miscellaneous other costs.

The tour member must agree to cooperate with the staff on this trip in obeying all the rules and regulations set for the group. A member who breaks this behavior agreement will be sent home immediately on a scheduled airline flight at her own expense.
